Senator Magnus Ngei Abe, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the Rivers South East re-run election has appealed to his supporters in Rivers South East Senatorial District not to retaliate on the attack on his Senatorial Liaison office at Bori, Headquarters of Khana Local Government Area, which took place on Monday 22nd February, 2016.
In a press release signed by the spokesperson to Senator Magnus Abe, Mr. Parry Benson, the appeal became necessary to avert bloodshed, wanton destruction of property and anarchy in the area.
He told them to consider this singular act as a sacrifice not to turn their motherland into a theatre of war.
He wondered why Governor Nyesom Wike in his strategy did not turn Ikwerre into a theatre of war but chose Ogoni for his nefarious activities.
He accused the ruling party in the state for being responsible for the mayhem.
This, he said, was a manifestation of threats the governor and the party had been issuing of recent.
He stated that hooliganism and violence was the governor’s brand of politics, pointing out that that type of politics has no place in the civilized world.
Abe sympathized with families that lost their dear ones in the attack and prayed that God would give the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
He assured the people that the perpetrators of the heinous crime would be fished out by the security forces, adding that nobody was above the law.
Abe stated that it was inhuman, wicked and extreme callousness for people to organize to kill and maim their fellow citizens just for the lust of power.
It will be recalled that Governor Wike while at Luuwa, Khana Local Government Area, on the 50th birthday of Senator Lee Maeba asked his supporters to stop Senator Abe at all cost.
The governor in another event also threatened the staff of INEC with death should the election be compromised as he claimed.
