Shell, Mgbuesilaru community settles out of court

Sequel to the peace meeting convened by Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike for leaders of Mgbuesilaru community and Shell Petroleum Development Company, SPDC, the company has paid the outstanding rent owed the community in line  with the Out of Court Settlement reached after the legal dispute got up to the Supreme Court.

Eze Morgan Nwenenda Amadi, Eze Oha Okporo Okwurusi Clan in Obio Akpor Local Government Area confirmed that the payment was made by Shell  on Friday, 12th July , 2019.

The traditional ruler  said: “With joy in my heart, I  respectfully inform you that Shell has paid our out of court settlement agreement arrears rent money yesterday Friday 12th July 2019.

“Consequently All Elders, Chiefs, Mgbuesilaru Town Council and Youths Executives only will meet on Monday 15th July 2019 by 8am at Okporo Okwurusi palace”

He added that the “The Community Delegation will formally visit Obio Akpor LGA Chairman on Monday 15th July 2019 to brief and inform him of the various family sharing formula”.

He said that the Mgbuesilaru Community will embark on Key Social Projects as directed by the Rivers State Governor.

“In line with the directive of Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, CON, GSSRS, POS Africa; the Community has also agreed to support Rivers State Government by refurbishing three Okporo Police Hilux Pick Ups And Renovations at the Police Division”, he added.

The Monarch prayed  God  to  bless Mgbuesilaru Community, Okporo Okwurusi Clan, Obio Akpor LGA, Rivers State and Nigeria.

He thanked Governor Wike for his commitment to the development of Rivers State through pro-people governance.
