Chairman of Rivers State TaskForce on Street Trading and Illegal Motor parks, Mr. Bright Amaewhule, has denied his men are responsible for death of a Hausa man in Port Harcourt on Tuesday.
The deceased whose name is still unknown was allegedly killed when task force operatives invaded the Presidential Hotel area where some northerners engage in illegal exchange of dollars and other foreign currencies.
But Amaewhule while reacting to the allegation said there was no iota of truth in the claims.
The situation our correspondent said, caused major traffic at the GRA-Rumuola-Presidential Hotel axis of Port Harcourt-Aba Express Road on Tuesday evening as the Hausa community in the area barricaded the road, attacking vehicles that dared to cross the blockade.
In the meantime, the Arewa Consultative Forum has called for calm over the incident.
Chairman of Arewa Consultative Forum, South South and South East, Alhaji Musa Saidu said that they are not against efforts of Rivers State Government to keep the state clean but they condemn actions of some of the task force members.
He called on the Rivers Police Command to investigate the incident and bring the perpetrators to book.
He alleged that the task force officials wanted to steal from the deceased Hausa man who deals on woman wears which led to his death.
