IPMAN chairman arrested for oil theft

The Port Harcourt Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has commenced an investigation into an alleged illegal oil bunkering case involving Mr. Umukoro Famous, Chairman Independent Marketers, Warri Branch, and one Chukwunalu Rudolf.

Rudolf was arrested by officers of Sector 1, Operation Delta Safe, Effurun, Delta State. According to the handover notice by Operation Delta Safe, the suspect was apprehended on February 21 while pumping suspected stolen crude oil from a barge into a DAF truck with registration number, Delta PTN 353XA at Ugbolokposo Jetty, Warri.

During interrogation, Rudolf had allegedly claimed he bought the crude oil from a sailor at Yingi Yard, along Enerhen River and intended to sell the product to Umukoro Famous, who allegedly paid him N280,000 to enable him to load the product into the truck.

However, EFCC operatives have collected samples of the product for analysis by the Department of Petroleum Resources.

The suspects would be charged to court once an investigation is concluded.
