…Ten teachers arrested

While Rivers State is still putting up stringent measures aimed at controlling the dreaded coronavirus from spreading to parts of the state, some school owners have refused to adhere to the directive on school closure by the government.
This is as the Obio Akpor council said it has sealed a school in Rumoumasi which flouted the government order.
Chairman of the council, Prince Solomon Eke who made this known through his social media page on Wednesday said the school is owned by a church.
Eke, who acted on a tip-off stormed the school, Mission Education Centre along Arochukwu Street, Rumuomasi, and met about 100 students in different classes in mufti.
“Today I moved round to enforce the Governors order and to my dismay this is what I discovered. Missions Education Center Rumuomasi owned by Assemblies of God Church was still open and running with children. No matter how spiritual you think you are, how can you expose your children to this kind of danger” he said.
The council boss further said that the school management and over ten teachers found on ground have since been arrested and currently explaining to authorities why they flouted the order.
Eke who said: ‘I cannot be chairman over dead people,’ urged residents of the area to obey government directives on the containment of the virus.
Eke, urged residents of Obio/Akpor to support efforts of government insisting that his council would continue to monitor the compliance level across the Local Government Area.
Also, the council commenced the distribution of sanitizers and disinfectants to various police divisions in the area.
