Bonny attack: Wife begs kidnappers to release husband unhurt

By: Admin

While the authorities in Bonny local government area of Rivers State said it’s working round the clock to ensure the safe release of persons abducted at the weekend by unknown gunmen, wife of one of the kidnap victims, Ibifiri Hart has lamented  the effect of her husband’s abduction on the family. She said that the day (last Saturday) started like every other day with hopes of meeting her husband, Daniel Robert Hart at the end of the day in health and fitness as he had left.

She explained that “On Saturday my husband dressed up and went out for the burial at and later in the day we found out that he was not returning, and people started calling me to ask me if his in the house.”

Mrs. Hart who spoke with journalists in the area further narrated that, “his nephew called me and said mummy is daddy in the house, I saw him in Banigo Isile-Ogono. I said, no, he’s not yet back. Before then, I have heard that something, there was a shoot out there.”

“So, I called his line, his line was going. But suddenly, his line stopped going. And since that Saturday till now, we’ve not been able to talk with him, we’ve not heard from him . What I heard was that the three (3) persons that was with him in the boat, including him were abducted.

She noted that her husband is neither a politician nor a business man, but a retiree and wondered why such a man who has been contributory to community development would be a target for kidnap.

She said although her husband is a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), he plays on a low key.

“Even the PDP he belongs to he is at a low level. He plays a low level politics, he is not holding any position and he is not aspiring. He’s not intending to aspire for any position. He does not have that mind to aspire for any position for now.”

She added that “He just loves politics but he is not into it. He does not have anybody that he is leaning on or somebody that is he is trying to push forward for any political position.”

Decrying the action of the abductors, Mrs. Hart lamented that “I will tell them that they picked the wrong person, that’s one. I will tell them they picked the wrong person and it is a mistaken identity. I believe they did not deliberately pick him.

“So, for that I will plead with them that in the name of Jesus, the name that is above every other name, they should release him so that he will come and do God’s work and serve God better. That’s what I will tell them” she concluded.
