#EndSARS protest: Clergy cautions Nigerian youths against hijack

By: Emmanuel Nlewedum

General Overseer of Christ the Life Bible International Church, Prophet E. S. Okenna has urged the #EndSARS protesters across the country to take precautions as hoodlums have allegedly hijacked what seems to be a peaceful exercise.

Okenna gave the advice shortly after receiving Timeless Global Magazine Next Generation Heroes Award alongside other prominent Nigerians, as the ‘Clergy of the Year, 2020’ in Port Harcourt on Sunday.

The clergyman who described the #EndSARS protest by Nigerian youths as a divine mandate said; “Nigeria has been suffering from not only police brutality, but corrupt leadership, and today God has reminded the youths their steps and they have awoken from their slumber.

“While I commend Nigerian youths for taking the bold step to express their grievances, I also advice the youths to take precautions because the protest have been hijacked by hoodlums.

Commenting on the Lekki killings, he said, “It’s quite unfortunate that our President, Muhamadu Buhari did not feel the pains and unwarranted killings of innocent Nigerians protesting for their rights. The president needs to give Nigerians a clearer explanation of what led to the massacre of our youths at Lekki, in Lagos.

“I totally condemn the killings of armless youths and I commiserate with families that have lost their loved ones across the country especially in Lagos”.
