Registration: Appeal Court fixes date for Rivers APC appeals

An Appeal Court sitting in Port Harcourt has adjourned to 23rd of February, 2021 to hear five separate appeals by the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Rivers State against five sets of defendants in different suits.

Some of the appeals includes that brought by APC against the Emma Deeyii and four others, Bariiye Normagin and four others, Nna Okpara-Egburuka and two others suits.

When the matter came up in court, the three-man appeal panel led by Justice H.S Tsammani granted some of the motions by both counsels to applicant and respondents including the motion of transfer of records of the court and withdrawal of stay of proceedings.

On the motion for stay of execution sought by APC against the exparte orders granted by Justice Okogbule Gbasam of a Rivers State High Court, the appeal panel also fixed 23rd of February for the hearing of the motion for stay of the orders.

The three-man panel led by Justice Tsammani directed parties to file and respond to the affidavit and counter-affidavits and return on the 23rd of February to argue on the motion for stay and other matters.

The respondents in the appeal by the All Progressives Congress who claim to be members of the party had dragged the APC, and its National Caretaker Committee Chairman Mai Mala Buni before a High Court sitting in Port Harcourt to stop the APC from conducting membership registration and revalidation in Rivers State and restrained the Caretaker Committee Chairman in the state, Isaac Abbot-Ogbobula, leading to the appeal.
