Militants give herdsmen 2 weeks to vacate S’East, S’South

By: Our correspondent

As result of recent attacks by the Fulani herdsmen in the South East and other parts of the country, some militants have given them an ultimatum to leave the region or face reprisal attacks.

A group known as Concerned Militant Leaders, CML, from the Niger Delta region gave the herdsmen two weeks to vacate the South-East and the South-South.
The warning they said followed recent attacks by the herdsmen on farmers and villagers in both regions.
In a statement by its spokesman who identified himself simply as General Ben in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, the group urged the Federal Government to tell Nigerians who Fulani herdsmen were or the rate of killings and kidnapping of theso-called herdsmen,” would be unprecedented.

According to Ben: “After two weeks, starting from today, Tuesday, May 3, we are going to search for Fulani herdsmen. Since Federal Government cannot tell us who they are up till now, we are going to look for them.
“The Fulani herdsmen have indirectly challenged us, asking us what can we do. But, we promise them that we will not allow them to go without taking revenge. It is an insult and we will give them back.”
The militants vowed to retaliate the attacks if the herdsmen remain in the region two weeks from the day of the warning.

This is even as President Mohamadu Buhari has ordered the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase to halt the activities of the herdsmen.

Buhari gave the order while meeting with Catholic bishops at the presidential villa, Abuja.
