CAN bemoans attack on Uzodimma’s home

Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Imo State chapter, has called for an end to insurgency, banditry and hooliganism in the state.

Briefing reporters at the CAN headquarters in Owerri, the Chairman, Rev. Dr. Divine Eches, said terror, like danger, does not spare anyone.

“Once it assumes a life of its own, it turns to torment the initiators and soon it may be the person’s turn,” he added.

Eches warned persons or groups fuelling crisis to desist forthwith.

Condemning the attack on Governor Hope Uzodimma’s home, the CAN chairman urged the political class to stop fuelling crisis “while they keep their families outside the country.”

Said he: “While the church is not taking sides, we call on the gladiators to sheathe their swords and give peace a chance.

“On behalf of church leaders in the state, I call for ceasefire and calm. Let us resolve to make our state safe for us all.”

Eches appealed to Uzodimma to forgive those who attacked his home.

He assured him and his administration of CAN’s prayers at all times.
