Mother and child burnt to death as bus carrying adulterated fuel burst into flames

A woman and her baby were reported killed with five others injured as a commercial bus conveying adulterated fuel popularly known as kpo-fire caught fire in Rivers State.

The incident occurred Saturday evening at Elele-Alimini community of Emohua Local Government Area of the state.

Eyewitnesses said four shops were also burnt down while one residential building was affected.

It was gathered that the bus conveying the adulterated fuel packaged in nylon bags from Ahoada Local Government Area to an unknown destination caught fire and exploded.

The driver who was escaped unhurt from the inferno was however apprehended by locals and handed over to the police.

The woman and her baby were said to be unable to rush out from the fire leading to their death.
