As reactions continue to trail the killing of a 400-level mechanical engineering student of the Rivers State University by a fellstudent on Thursday, facts are now emerging on the possible identity of the assailant.

The State Police Command and the school authorities were yet to make available the name of the suspected killer and the deceased.

However, social media users who claimed to have known the suspect, identified him as Wisdom Mwara AKA Peruzzi,  300-level faculty of management sciences. The suspect is said to hail from the Nyor-Khana axis of Rivers State and alleged to be related to a highly placed politician in the state.

Meanwhile, the Public Relations Officer of the State’s Police Command, Superintendent of Police Nnamdi Omoni, said the killer of the final year student has been arrested while the corpse of the victim has been deposited in an undisclosed mortuary in Port Harcourt.

Omoni said one locally made gun was recovered from the assailant, while investigation into the incident has commenced as directed by the state Commissioner of Police, Friday Eboka.

A source disclosed that the arrested student was suspected to be a member of Vikings cult group, while his victim was said to be a member of Ku Klux Klans (KKK) cult group.

An eyewitness, who did not want his name mentioned, said the deceased was shot on his head, adding that the shooting resulted to pandemonium in the school as students and staff scampered for safety.

However, the school in a statement by the registrar, Sydney Enyindah, assured parents that the school is safe, adding that first semester examinations are ongoing. He refuted claims on social media that the school was unsafe following the incident.

He stressed that the police were investigating the matter.
