Wike declares protesting workers wanted

Rivers State Government has declared Messrs. Gift Elenwo, Chiboso Glory Ejeku and Tambari Godwin Gbara wanted for alleged criminal activities and harassment of contractors, particularly Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, in the State.

The statement directed the Mayor of Port Harcourt City, Chairman of Obio-Akpor Local Government Areas and security agencies  to ensure that the aforementioned wanted persons are apprehended and handed over to the police immediately for prosecution.

The declaration comes barely a day after some workers of Julius Berger Nigeria Plc protested at the constructions sites of the various flyovers being constructed in the state over the alleged slashing of their salaries and poor welfare.

PHSpectator reports that the protesting workers on Tuesday, marched from Ikokwu area to the Government House on Azikiwe Road.

Some of the protesting workers told our correspondent that their salaries were slashed despite directives from Governor Wike for it to be increased.

The workers are also asking for allowances.

This is the second time construction workers under the Julius Berger company will be protesting over poor salaries in Rivers State.

It was further gathered that those declared wanted are part of the protesters.
