RSUBEB queries head teacher over closure of school

Rivers State Universal Basic Education Board, RSUBEB, has issued a query to the Head Teacher of Community Primary School, Mba, in Etche Local Government Area, following reports that the school has been closed for four years.

A letter signed by the Director of Administration and Supplies, Barrister Karibi George, and dated October 28, said the Head Teacher failed to keep the school functioning. It said the Head Teacher did not tell the board in writing that he was having challenges running the school, which is a breach of the Public Service Rules 2008.

The letter asked the Head Teacher to explain in writing within 48 hours of receipt of the query why disciplinary action should not be taken against him.

This publication cannot confirm if the Head Teacher has responded to the query.

The news of the school went viral on the internet lastweek when one of the leaders of the community stated in a post  picture of the school overgrown by weeds and alleged that it has been shut for over four years.
