Super Eagles defender, William Troost-Ekong has said the team will not underrate any team in the ongoing African Cup of Nations, AFCON, in Cameroon.
Troost-Ekong said the Super Eagles would produce a good performance against Guinea Bissau.
He said the Super Eagles will avoid the mistakes made at the 2019 AFCON, where they lost to Madagascar during their final Group D game, against Guinea Bissau.
Speaking with journalists ahead of today’s fixture, the Watford defender said: “When you get to situations like this, all you need is a good team performance, to improve on your game when you have the opportunity to play, you give your best.
“As a team, we don’t underestimate anyone. We are in the same situation like it was at the last edition when we lost to Madagascar and we were favourites to win the game. It’s just like we are now, but this is a new challenge for us.
“So, whoever is going to be playing has a point to prove, so in that sense, our approach won’t be different from the previous games.”
The Super Eagles currently top Group D after beating Egypt and Sudan in the ongoing AFCON.
With the six points gained after winning both matches, the Super Eagles have qualified for the tournament’s knockout stages.
