The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has resolved to take a decisive action to rescue the future of students and the tertiary education system which is considered to be at the brink of collapse.
The association reached the resolution in a meeting held on Saturday at the Sokoto State University.
Annoyed by the situation of things in the education sector especially with the ongoing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, the group noted that Nigerian students gets nothing but a waste of everything, citing issues like “the house rent which is non-refundable, the age count is irreversible.
They said, “the extension of stay on campus didn’t only affects our academic journey but destabilise our life plans, as many misses NYSC mobilization due to age limit”.
The students also resolved to block all federal roads in all 36 states of the federation to be led and coordinated by NANS JCC and Zonal executive including National officials of NANS in the state.
It said protest is to take place on the 28 of February, 2022 once ASUU and the Federal Government fails to reach a compromise and get campuses reopened on or before the stipulated date.
