Chairman of Emohua Local Governent Area, Dr Chidi Lloyd, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to delivering quality projects across the local government area.
He said the major goal of his administration was to reposition the area through the implementation of projects that would have direct impact on the people, with a view to opening the area for socio-economic activities.
Lloyd stated this during a tour of some of the infrastructure projects being implemented by his administration across Emohua Local Government Area, last Wednesday.
The EMOLGA council boss said the area was presently witnessing tremendous infrastructure development because it has a leadership that was focused and determined to change the negative narrative about the area, with a view to attracting investors.
He added that the local government under his watch has made very difficult sacrifices to ensure that the area was placed amongst the best in the country.
Speaking further, Lloyd said himself and other officers of the council have continued to sacrifice their personal benefits and entitlements for the development of the area, hence the infrastructure revolution witnessed across the area under his watch.
He, however, noted that some of the projects envisioned by his administration were being delayed because the area depends solely on federal allocation, due to lack of internally generated revenue (IGR) but promised to complete all ongoing projects before the expiration of his tenure.
Lloyd charged contractors handling all ongoing projects across the area to intensify efforts to have them delivered within the stipulated time and in line with agreed specifications.
Some of the project sites visited include the 1kilometre Eveku Road with 2kilometre drainage in Eveku-Odegu; the 1.5kilometre Ukeli Road with 3kilometre drainage in Rundele; the fencing and security tower building at the divisional police headquarters and court complex in Rumuji;and the Emohua Vigilante Services Secretariat building at Mgbuitanwo junction along the East-West Road.
Other sites visited are; the construction of ultramodern Emohua Council Secretariat (administrative building), the reconstruction and remodelling of Emohua Legislative Council complex, the construction of 500-seater pavilion, the construction of 350-capacity ICT studio named after Chief Emeka Woke, the four-ward Emohua Healthcare Centre, the staff canteen, the council chapel and marriage registry, the 20,000-gallons Braithwaite water reticulation project, as well as the completion of the abandoned office complex building in the council secretariat.
Lloyd was accompanied on the project tour by the Auditor General of Local Governments in Rivers State, Mr Friday Bema.
