Rivers State Chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria have urged Christians in the state not to vote for any of the All Progressives Congress and Poeples Democratic Party presidential candidates, Bola Tinubu and Atiku Abubakar in 2023.
CAN said the two main political parties in the country had disrespected Christians by insisting on using a Muslim to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari despite its earlier warning against fielding a Muslim presidential candidate.
Speaking with our correspondent, the state CAN chairman, Apostle Stanley Dimkpa said the most worrisome among the two main political parties is the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the APC presidential candidacy.
Recall that Tinubu had announced former Borno State Governor, Kashim Settima as his running mate in 2023, explaining to Nigerians that the late MKO Abiola did same in 1993 and won the annulled June 12 presidential election.
However, the state CAN chairman maintained that, “if PDP and APC cannot adhere to the voice of fairness by the Christians, then the plights of Christians will not be looked into if any of these main political parties clinched power at the centre in 2023.
“Therefore, I enjoin all Christians to go get their Permanent Voter’s Cards and vote against Atiku and Tinubu in the forthcoming presidential election.”
