A council member of Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce Industry Mines and Agriculture (PHCCIMA) Chief Emeka Ezekwe has urged the Rivers State government under the leadership of Sir Siminalayi Fubara to give priority attention to the media to restore the lost glory of the state.
Ezekwe whpo is the Managing Director and the Chief Executive Officer of Arrow Construction Company Limited, made the statement shortly after receiving an award as a Distinguished Company Director of the year, 2023 from the Niger Delta Media Practitioners of Nigeria (NDMP) at his corporate office in Port Harcourt.
He stated that Rivers State was the hub of commerce and industry in the country and lamented that media propaganda of alleged insecurity in the Niger Delta drove multinationals to relocate their corporate offices to Lagos.
He said that there are lot of youths restiveness in Lagos State but due to strong media network, it is not vastly reported, hence the need for the Rivers State government to form strong synergy with the media in the state to bring back the attention of the multinationals.
Ezekwe also called on the state government to emulate Lagos state in running an all inclusive administration by opening its doors for the non indigenes to participate which in turn would boost the internal revenue of the state.
Presenting the award, the National Secretary of Niger Delta Media Practitioners of Nigeria, Dr. Gilbert Amadi said that the group were at his office to compliment the investigation carried out by the assessment team of the association and urged him to maintain the tempo.
