Wheelbarrow Pusher in Police Net For Killing Trader in Rivers

‎The Rivers State Police Command says it has arrested a wheelbarrow pusher, Zakara Afaaruwu for stabbing a trader,   Higightor Wenem to death at the Oil Mill Market in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

‎Police Relations Officer, CSP Grance Iringe-Koko in a statement said the suspect was arrested following the incident which sparked pandemonium at the and causing heavy gridlock on the Port Harcourt/Absolutely Expressway.

‎According to her, preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased trader at the market, while attempting to create more space for his goods, requested the wheelbarrow pusher  to remove his wheelbarrow which was obstructing the area. The request was refused, and an argument ensued.

‎”In course of the disagreement, the wheelbarrow pusher allegedly stabbed the trader, identified as Higightor Wenem ‘m’ aged 30 years, from Mbagel Village, Buruku Local Government Area of Benue State, with a dagger, ” she said.

‎The police PRO said the victim was  rushed to the Military Hospital for medical attention but was confirmed dead by the  medical doctor while his corpse has been deposited at the morgue for autopsy.

‎She said calm has been restored to the area following prompt intervention by police operatives and preventing  further breakdown of law and order.

‎Iringe-Koko said the suspect has  is currently in police custody while investigation continues.
