Deputy Whip of the House of Representatives and Director of Research and Strategy of the Godwin Obaseki Campaign Organization, Hon Pally Iriase, has said that the Peoples Democratic Party will fail in its bid to blackmail his party, the All Progressive Congress ahead of the September 10 governorship election inn Edo State.
The lawmaker posited that attempts by the PDP to make the people of Edo state believe that the APC caused the current economic hardship in the country would not work in favour of the PDP’s candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.
Iriase noted that the PDP has been shameless to tell Edo people to vote for PDP because of hunger when it was the PDP that looted the treasury of the country in the name of election.
The lawmaker who was a former Deputy Speaker of Edo State House of Assembly said Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole and the APC did not bring the new tax law but a law that has been in the shelve unimplemented over time.
“What we are doing is to let the people know where to cast their votes. It is quite easy to call names, to demonize the ruling party but come to think of it, how did we get to where we are today. PDP ran down this nation including Edo state. People should ask why is Edo continuing with projects after paying salaries.
“ People must ask that question. For me, you now know that this a government that is working. The badness of the economy is not peculiar to Edo state and it is being addressed by the President. Edo is much better than many other states. Another point is that this hard times are expected to teach us a new lesson, our penchant for foreign goods cannot help us.
He mainatined that Obaseki is coming to diversify the econmy of the state.
“Godwin Obaseki is coming to ensure that people will till the soil and food will be cheap. This will boost the economy. All we have is to advise our people. Where individuals are being held to account for N400billion, that is what PDP did to us and yet they are still talking. But God is on the throne and that is why he is punishing them. Now that is why the INEC chairman said it is only the court that will determine who is the PDP candidate” he stated.
