Fake result sheets: Rivers govt to confiscate property

By: Felix Ikpotor

There are fears that the property located at No. 12 Isiokpo Street D/Line in Rivers State where a syndicate allegedly printing fake INEC result sheets and other sensitive materials meant for the December 10 legislative rerun in the state maybe confiscated by the state government.

This followed a directive by the State Assembly asking the government to investigate whether the property has the approval to be used for commercial activities since it is located in a residential area.

The printing press where the fake materials were confiscated is said to be owned by a cousin of the Director General of NIMASA and former All Progressives Congress, APC governorship candidate in the state, Dakuku Peterside.

But the House Committee Chairman on Information and Training, Sam Ogeh said the directive by the assembly is not to witch hunt anybody but only a call on the government to carry out the laws passed by the assembly as he noted that there is a law in the state that requires residential properties to obtain approval before it can be used for commercial activities.

The lawmaker while briefing assembly correspondents after plenary Tuesday condemned the act and called on security agencies to investigate the matter and bring the perpetrators to book.
