Lawmaker leads protest against FSARS in Rivers

Men, women and youths of Omuma Local Government Area in Rivers State led by the lawmaker representing them in Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Kelechi Nwogu staged a peaceful protest against the incessant alleged extra judicial killings  perpetrated by the Akin Fakorode led Federal State Anti-Robbery Squard in Rivers State.

The people came out en masse and marched from Port Harcourt City Council to NUJ complex in Port Harcourt to hold a press conference, wherein  Nwogu called on President Muhammad Buhari and Inspector General of Police, Idris Ibrahim to stop former Governor Chibuike Amaechi from using FSARS to destabilize the state.

The lawmaker also condemned the activities of operatives of Special Anti Robbery Squad, especially the recent killing of three teenagers in Ogoni and the alleged attack on Governor Nyesom Wike’s convoy.

Omuma people warned that nothing should happen to the governor, while serving out the mandate given to him by Rivers people.

They also appealed to Nigerians and the international community to prevail on President Buhari and the IGP to remove Akin Fakorede from Rivers State, and fish out the bad eggs among the SARS operatives.
