We’ll query Atiku when he returns from US – FG

By: Admin

The Federal Government of Nigeria has said that the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar, would have questions to answer when he returns from the United States.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, who disclosed this while briefing State House correspondents on Friday said the government would investigate Atiku’s alleged role in the collapse of former Bank PHB.

Mohammed said the investigation was “following fresh evidence that he (Atiku) benefitted from slush funds that led to the collapse of Bank PHB.”

Lai Mohammed stated that the government has in its position “paper trail which shows that he benefitted from N156 million.

“It started from an internal memo dated 13 January 2009 asking that a draft in favour of Atiku Abubakar of 156 million should be raised,” he added.

The Minister also noted that the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari was not perturbed about the latest America trip even though they dared him to visit the country.

The minister said  Atiku can go ahead to obtain the American green card but that would not stop his defeat in the forthcoming election.

He, however, clarified that his claim does not imply that the former vice president will be arrested on his return.

Before now, reports have been high that Atiku cannot enter the US owing to alleged corruption charges against him.
