Ex-governor slams Rivers CP over insecurity

Minister for Transportation and former Governor of Rivers state, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has taken a swipe at the state Commissioner of Police, Musa Kimo over the high level of insecurity of lives and properties in the state in recent months, describing him as a failure.

Amaechi, while defending some recent raids carried out by the military in some local government areas in the state accused the Police commissioner of having failed in his duties of protecting the lives and properties of Rivers people.

“The current CP has failed. Any where you see the army; it means that the internal security has failed”, he posited.

The former governor went ahead to deny the involvement of members of the All Progressive Congress (APC), in the recent political killings in the state.

According to him, “Nobody in APC is a militant. We don’t own guns because it is illegal to own guns. That is why they are killing APC members”.

The Transport Minister went on to say that members of the APC in Rivers state may be forced to protect themselves by any means if the police fail to protect them.

“If the federal government will rise up and protect APC members so that they don’t force APC members to defend themselves.

The Police must defend everybody whether APC or PDP before we begin to defend ourselves”, said Amaechi.
