Orient Petroleum, Alaigba Gas quit Anambra host community amid confusion

The managements of Orient Petroleum Plc and Alaigba Gas Power Company located at Otu-Umolum Water-side in Ayamelum Local Government Area of Anambra State have abandoned their natural crude oil deposits drilling projects and deserted the host community, amid confusion and lack of explanation.

Governor Obiano had barely a year ago, precisely on March 21, 2015 flagged-off the projects with a promise that his government would have completed work on the multi-million naira gas plant before March 2016.

Last weekend, the company workers were seen evacuating their construction equipment with over 25 long vehicles out of the community and effort to get in touch with the company’s management proved abortive as they maintained sealed lips.

However, Governor Obiano had during his recent chat with journalists, explained that the projects were being redesigned to tally with the proposed Anambra Airport project whereby the crude are harnessed and easily transported through the Airport by air to any destination.

Meanwhile, the Chief Ralph Uwazuruike-led Biafra Independence Movement, BIM and the Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB have disagreed with the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA over the performance of Governor Willie Obiano in the last two years.

The representatives of BIM/MASSOB from Abia, Anambra, Bayelsa, Delta, Enugu, Ebonyi, Imo and Rivers states who converged at Umolum, last weekend, during the funeral ceremony of the late Mrs. Onwuoku Mocha, mother of Chris Mocha, Biafra’s Director of Information, scored Obiano’s government low in terms of performance.

At the funeral ceremony which was attended by BIM members, zonal leaders from various districts, elders, regional administrators, regional directors, Biafra commandoes and deputy director of information, including some APGA chieftains, BIM/MASSOB leaders disagreed with APGA chieftains on the style of governance of the Obiano-led Igbo party, saying he has not performed.

Aside Obiano’s performance which they rated low, Omenka also revealed that the soaring popularity of MASSOB/BIM has already caught the attention of western nations to the extent that they are now contemplating to grant them the sovereignty of Biafra to correct all the wrongs and lopsided governance perpetrated by the past and present governors in South East/South South regions.
