Gunmen kills Ken Poly lecturer

Unknown gunmen have killed a lecturer of the Ken Saro Wiwa Polytechnic, Bori in Rivers State.

The deceased, Dr. Vyncent Elvis Eebee was the Director of Foundation Studies in the school.

Sources said the unknown assassins trailed the lecturer from his office in Bori to his hometown, Yeghe in Gokana Local Government Area where he was shot severally alongside a 21 year old student of the school, simply known as Priye who was with him in the vehicle.

Yeghe is the hometown of wanted ex-militant leader, Solomon Ndigbara.

An eyewitness who preferred anonymity said the victim ran out of his car when they started shooting at him but the gunmen followed him to a primary school field where he was finally murdered.

Dr. Eebee was said to be a staunch member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the community.

Rector of the school, Mr. Soberekon Georgewill confirmed the incidence, adding that then case has been reported to the Divisional Police Headquarters in the area.

Police spokesman in the state, DSP, Ahmad Kidaya said he was yet tom be briefed on the incidence.

Meanwhile, a monarch in Ogoni, Mene Suanu Baridam has condemned in strong terms the killing of the Ken Poly lecturer.

Baridam in a statement by his media aide, Confidence Ati Kiaka described the incidence as shocking and painful.

While calling on the police to ensure they unearth those behind the dastardly act, Baridam who is the Gbenemene Bangha Kingdom urged youths to shun cultism, kidnapping and other social vices.

He equally called on religious organizations and private individuals to partner government in fighting insecurity in the state.
