Gunmen kill 5 Police officers in Rivers

Information at our newsdesk has it the five police officers were on Monday killed by some gunmen in Rivers state.

The police officers were reportedly ambushed by the gunmen along the East-West road, in Okobe, Ahoada West LGA of Rivers state at about 3am.

The victims were coming from Yobe state on a special assignment to Yenagoa, the Bayelsa state capital when they were attacked.

When contacted, State police public relations officer, Mr. Ahmad Muhammad confirmed the incident, and described the development as a sad one.

He said investigation were already on the way to enable the apprehension of the gunmen.
