An angry Saudi woman burned down her house after she learned that her husband took a second wife.
The mother of six who has been married for ten years was shocked to receive a message from her husband on her mobile informing her that he married a second wife and that he was travelling abroad with her for their honeymoon.
The first wife suffered a nervous breakdown and in a fit of anger, she set their home in a neighbourhood in Jazan, a port city and the capital of Jazan Region, in the southwest corner of Saudi Arabia.
However, when she saw the house being engulfed by the fire, she started screaming for assistance from her neighbours, Saudi news site Al Sada reported on Tuesday.
A spokesperson for the civil defense Mohammad Al Samaan said that the fire brigade in the region dealt with a fire that broke out at a house in Jazan’s Suez neighbourhood.
He added that one child, reportedly aged five, was harmed in the blaze and that the case was referred to the police for investigation.
