LGA court ruling: Rivers Councillors Forum hail Appeal Court

Rivers Councillors Forum expresses our profound gratitude and happily commend the panel of honorable justices of the court of appeal seating in Port Harcourt for unwaveringly dismantling all frivolous objections raised against an Appeal brought before it by the 22 Elected local government Council chairmen and councillors of Rivers State over their unlawful removal from office through a kangaroo judgement of the Federal High Court Port Harcourt Presided over by Retired justice Akambi.

The Forum which is an umbrella body of all elected councillors of the 8th local council legislative Assembly sincerely salute the Uncommon industry displayed by the panel of eminent jurist in painstakingly resolving all the contentious issues brought before it in favour of the 22 Elected local government Council chairmen and councillors.

The Forum found it gratifying to note that the learned justices unanimously upheld all the grounds of appeal brought before it by the 22 Elected local government Council chairmen and councillors, which is that; the decision of the Hon justice Akambi of the Federal High Court Port Harcourt to have refused an application to be joined as interested parties in the case seeking to nullify the election that brought the council chairmen and councillors to office was wrong in the first instance.

The Forum also seizes this opportunity to sincerely express our profound support and gratitude to the 22 Elected local government Council chairmen and the APC leadership of Rivers State for their untiring contributions, long suffering, steadfastness and sacrifices made towards ensuring the sustainability of the restoration and recovery mission of the mandate freely given by the masses of Rivers people to whom it rightly belong. “By the appeal court ruling affirming the right of the Elected 22 LGA Chairmen and councillors to be joined in the appeal as interested parties, it is safe to say our journey towards our full mandate recovery is 80% done!

We would like to seize this opportunity to sincerely express our loyalty and support to the Leadership of ALGON and Rivers APC in their relentless efforts and sacrifices made towards ensuring the return of democratic leadership to our local government and the best of democratic dividends is delivered to our people. We call on all elected councillors of Rivers State to rally round our leaders in prayers and encouragement to see to the complete dose of fruitful and joyful conclusion of this cases.

Finally, we want to thank the Almighty God, for He alone has done this great work for us. To God be the glory!

Signed:
