Euro 2016: England criticized over shock exit

The English national team has been heavily criticized for their poor performance in the ongoing European Championships in France “Euro 2016”.

The Three lions of England bowed out of the competition after suffering a shocking 2-1 defeat to Iceland in the last game of the round-of-16 at the tournament.

Reacting to the English team’s failure to reach the quarter final stage, fans across Europe via their twitter handles said “England are way too arrogant we always talk big never deliver”.

Captain of the team, Wayne Rooney put the Three Lions ahead from the spot after just four minutes into the game but their celebration was short lived as Ragnar Sigurdsson equalized two minutes later.

Iceland went ahead through Kolbeinn Sigthorsson in the 19th minute after Joe Hart fumbled in front of post as the number nine’s low shot went into the back of the net.

England gave their all but the Icelanders remained dogged and stood firm to secure a 2-1 victory and advanced to the next stage.

Iceland will now face hosts France in a quarter final stage.
