Zamfara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulaziz Yari, has debunked reports that the State House of Assembly is set to impeach him.
Recall that the Department of State Services, DSS, on Tuesday reportedly arrested the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Sanusi Rikiji, alongside other principal officers of the house in connection with an alleged move to remove the governor.
As a result of the arrest of its presiding and other officers, the House of Assembly, on Wednesday, listed six impeachable offences against Yari.
But in his reaction, Yari in Abuja, claimed that the leadership of the Assembly had denied the report.
“Even the Assembly says there is no such (impeachment) move and that there was a misunderstanding. But you know it is democracy we are practising and everyone can be hurt. We are peaceful,” he said.
