Rivers Guber: I will be on the ballot- Abe insists

… Rejects APC primaries

By: Felix Ikpotor

Senator Magnus Abe, a frontline governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has sounded it loud and clear that he will be on the ballot in the 2023 gubernatorial elections in Rivers State.

Abe stated this while addressing journalist in reaction to rumours that he has withdrawn from the governorship contest in the state.

He also dissociated himself from the primary elections conducted by the Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi led faction of the party in the state, describing it as a charade and unacceptable.

His words: ” I have received alot of phone calls and messages saying that I have withdrawn from the primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC). I want to say that that is not true, I have not withdrawn and will not withdraw”

“I am however; aware that was is being set up today is a charade. Everybody knows that in a delegate election, if you are not included in how the delegates are chosen, if the process of choosing the delegates is not transparent and it’s not fair, the outcome of what the delegates would do is not expected to be anything different from the process that produced them.

“Like I stated at the beginning when I declared, that I won’t accept the outcome of any process that is not just, that is not fair, that is not equitable and that is not inclusive. The indirect primaries being conducted today by the former minister of transport Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi and his cronies in the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State clearly does not meet that standard and for that reason, while I have decided not to participate, not to withdraw out of respect for the party, I want to say clearly that I won’t accept the outcome, neither would I be bound by it”.

To Rivers people and his supporters the governorship hopeful said, “let me say this and unequivocally, there will be an election to elect a governor for the people of Rivers State in March next year and it will be the responsibility of Rivers people to choose who that governor would be. What I will say to Rivers people is that I Senator Magnus Ngei Abe will be on that ballot and Rivers people will have an opportunity to choose who shall lead our state moving forward. No one individual, however powerful, however connected, however wealthy would decide for all of us. You will have that opportunity to decide who our next governor will be and I Magnus Abe would be on the ballot”.
