Family, FG disagree over Keshi’s burial date

By: Felix Ikpotor

Reports say Stephen Keshi’s family will begin the final burial rites for the late Super Eagles handler on Thursday in Benin.

We gathered that the family are not willing to wait for the Nigerian government, which is said to be planning a state burial for the late coach after the summer Olympic Games in Rio, Brazil.

Solomon Dalung, Nigeria’s Sports Minister gave reasons for the delay.

“We don’t want a haphazard burial for such a great patriot, that is why the minister of sports, Solomon Dalung, has said the FG will play its own part after the Olympics,” Ministerial Special Adviser, Nneka Ikem Anibeze, said.

“We will unveil details after the games”, he added.

But the Keshi family will hold a Church Service on July 28 at St. Paul Catholic Church in Benin by 9am, as they pay the late coach his final respects.
