Former junior international, Peter Ogaba dies in Abuja

Another tragedy has befallen the Nigerian football family with the death of a former Flying Eagles midfielder, Peter Ogaba, who reportedly died in Abuja on Thursday at the age of 41.

We gathered that Ogaba, who was the youngest player to feature for Nigeria at the age of 15, at the Saudi ’89 FIFA U-20 World Cup, died after a brief illness, adding that is body has been deposited at the Asokoro General Hospital in Abuja.

An Abuja based journalist, Francis Achi, described late Ogaba as passionate and easy going person, who was always ready to give his opinion on football matters.

“Peter was sick, just brief illness. He died in his Abuja house last night (Thursday night) and his body has been deposited at the Asokoro General hospital in Abuja. It is well. He was one of the guys that I can call at any time for comment, opinion and other football matter and we are very closed,” Achi said.

The deceased played for clubs like Sporting Lokeren, FC Oulu, MSV Duisburg, among others between 1991 and 2000.
