2018 World Cup: NFF blasts Rohr for dropping Uche Agbo

A member of the Technical Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Garba Lawal, has lashed-out at the Super Eagles head coach, Gernot Rohr, over his handling of Standard Liege midfielder, Uche Agbo.

Agbo was dropped from Nigeria’s final 23 man squad for the 2018 World Cup, after failing to play a single competitive game for the team, despite getting several called up in the past two years following Rohr’s arrival.

Lawal who barred his mind in a chat with OwnGoalNigeria, also expressed his displeasure with the German tactician, for not passing his final list through the NFF Technical Committee, before making it public.

“Agbo was poorly managed by Rohr. You can’t call a player for two years constantly and not even give him few minutes to express himself. Not even in friendly games. That’s is sad and it’s a case of poor man management.

“I got to know about the World Cup 23 man list like every other Nigerian. Rohr didn’t run it through the Technical Committee as contained in his contract. This is not the first time he is doing so,” Lawal said.
