Buhari describes Zamfara killings as barbaric

President Muhammadu Buhari has described the killing of eight people in a village in Zamfara State as barbaric and unacceptable.

The latest killing occurred on Monday after a student of the Abdu Gusau Polytechnic, Talata-Mafara allegedly made a blasphemous statement against Islam and Prophet Muhammad as he was consequently attacked by a mob and beaten to a pulp.

A man however, took pity on him and rushed him to a hospital in his car.

But we gathered the man’s act infuriated the mob who attacked his house, set it ablaze and killed eight persons.

Buhari while reacting to the incidence via his Twitter handle, @MBuhari, vowed that the perpetrators of the act would be brought to book.

“I received news of the mob killings in Zamfara with great dismay. It is barbaric and unacceptable. I assure that the law will take its course.

“My prayers are with the families of the victims.

“Under my watch we will work to ensure that there is no place for violence in the name of religion, ethnicity, or in any guise whatsoever,” he said.
