Reports say a man, suspected to be armed robber was has been crushed to death as he allegedly attacked some bus passengers in Lagos State.
The yet to be identified suspect was said to have been crushed to death by a truck at the Ojo Lowo bus stop in the Ijanikin area of the state.
We gathered that at about 10.30pm last Saturday, the suspect, in company with other hoodlums, waylaid bus passengers and while the operation was on, luck ran out on them as a police patrol team from the Ijanikin division came to the area.
But in the process of trying to evade arrest, an oncoming truck crushed one of the robbers and he died on the spot.
Punch reports that, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, SP Dolapo Badmos, confirming the incident said effort is on to arrest other suspects and to recover their arms.
The PPRO said the affected motorists alerted the police about the robbery operation via a distress call.
“His corpse has been deposited in the Badagry General Hospital morgue for an autopsy,” the PPRO stated.
Meanwhile, while other members of the gang fled the scene, apart from the deceased, another hoodlum, identified as Bassey Eyo, was arrested by the police.
Eyo, 22, his gang members were reportedly notorious for traffic robbery in the area.
