Military personnel, Fulani herdsmen arrested for kidnapping Emefiele’s wife, sharing loot

Operatives of the Inspector General of Police, IGP, Special Intelligence Response Team, SIRT, have arrested two and a dismissed military personnel in connection with the kidnap of the wife of Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Margaret Emefiele.

Recall that Margaret was abducted by a group of heavily-armed gunmen late last Thursday, along the Benin-Agbor road.

She was, however, rescued by the operation carried out by the IGP’s Special Intelligence Monitoring Team, headed by Abba Kyari, a Chief Superintendent of Police, CSP.

Vanguard gathered on Thursday that six other suspects were earlier arrested by police.

A source disclosed that one of the serving military personnel was arrested in Otukpo, Benue State by the Technical Intelligence Support, TIU, headed by Abba Kyari. He was reportedly in possession of millions of naira and an unregistered Honda Accord saloon car as at the time of his arrest.

The recent arrest of the military personnel has increased the number of suspects arrested in connection with the kidnap to nine.

While the three serving and dismissed military personnel were from Gombe, Benue and Delta states, six of the suspects were Fulani herdsmen.

According to the report, two of the serving military personnel arrested have bought two exotic cars with their share of the loot, while the dismissed soldier has bought a car and also reportedly rented an apartment with his share few days after the operation.
