Rivers PDP spokesman alleges attempt by police to arrest him, others

Spokesman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Rivers state, Samuel Nwanosike, has raised the alarm over alleged attempt by the police to arrest him.

Nwanosike, while addressing journalists in Port Harcourt said that the attempt to arrest him was led by the Commander of Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS in Rivers state.

He  also said there is a subsisting court order restraining any security agency from arresting him.

He emphasized that himself and other leaders of the PDP will resist arrest by the police, adding that he will only honour an invitation.

“On Thursday night while having dinner with a couple of people at Randolph Hotel here in Port Harcourt, I saw four hilux vans drove in led by one ACP Akin Fakorede and he said they have information that criminals were in the hotel then I wondered when I became a criminal.

“I asked him if I have any criminal record that he knows of. I wonder if he is not aware of a valid court judgment restricting the Police and others from arresting me.

“I know they have plans to arrest me, Wonosike Samuel based on trumped-up charges so they can take me off the way so they can rig election in my Local government, Ikwerre Local government area. We are aware that they have promised to give him N50m if he succeeds to arrest me.?

“I want to let them know that leaders of the PDP will not allow themselves to be taken or arrested by any security operative. We will resist any arrest by Akin Fakorede and his cohorts.

Wonosike further alleged that the PDP is aware of alleged plans by the All Progressives Congress to rig this Saturday’s election.

Meanwhile, a Chieftain oft the All Progressive Congress in Rivers State, Senator Magnus Abe has blamed the Rivers state Governor, Nyesom Wike for pitching the people against the Police.

Abe said this in reaction to the Governor’s comments during the flagging-off of projects across the state.

The APC candidate for Rivers South East senatorial district for the rescheduled rerun elections said no individual is above the law of the land including Governor Nyesom Wike and his party members.

Abe said, “Anyone who violates the Law will be arrested by the Police and there is nothing anybody can do about it.

“No Governor can give anybody immunity from arrest. If Wike wants to tell people to resist arrest let him tell his own brothers to go and commit a crime and resist arrest by the Police.

“Those who break the law on election day will be arrested. Those who break the Law before election day will be arrested and those who commit electoral violence after election day will also be arrested.”
