Killing of Christians in the north capable of dividing Nigeria – Clergy

By: Emmanuel Nlewedum

As reactions continued to trail the incessant killing of Christians and burning of churches in the northern part of Nigeria by alleged Fulani herdsmen, the General Overseer of Christ the Life Bible International Church, Prophet E. S. Okenna has said the trend is capable of dividing the country.

Okenna in a chat with Port Harcourt Spectator condemned the killings especially in Southern Kaduna by the Islamist group.

The clergy who described the acts of the Muslim sects as a strategy by northern leaders to Islamize Nigeria, accused the President Muhammadu Buhari of toiling with the lives of Christians  as he is not doing enough to protect them and end the bloodshed in the area.

He called on President Buhari to stop being “tribalistic” and end the genocide in Southern Kaduna and other parts of the country by calling the killers to order.

He maintained that the situation in Southern Kaduna is capable of splitting the country.

“Yes, its time for Nigeria to split. The best way to stop the religious killings is to divide this nation, let the Christians have their country and let the Muslims be on their own.

“They two have different believes, the Christians believe that killing is bad and a sin while the muslims believes that killing (Christians) will take them to heaven”.

Okenna added that, “Until light is separated from the darkness, there will be no way forward. Separation most times, is connected to perfection. Christians must be separated from the muslims”, he said.

It would be recalled that some  Christians under the aegis of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rivers State chapter, led by its Chairman, Primate I. C. T. Anyanasikike had staged a peaceful protest in Port Harcourt over the incessant killing of Christians and burning of churches in the north.
