Arsene Wenger ready to walk away from Arsenal

Reports say Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, is ready to end his 21-year reign as manager of the Premier League club at the end of the season.

According to reports in the English media, there is a growing belief behind the scenes at the Emirates, that Wenger will not sign a new two-year deal which is still pending on the table as his current contract expires in June this year.

Wenger was reportedly at his lowest, after the 5-1 defeat  to Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Wednesday night and Sportsmail claims there was a heated dressing-room inquest at the Allianz Arena.

Arsenal fans are already divided about the manager’s future, with a growing number of supporters calling for him to leave.

The Gunners could yet finish this season with a trophy, if they win the FA Cup, with a place in the quarter-finals likely when they face non-League outfit, Sutton United on Monday night.

FA Cup glory and a top-four finish could convince Wenger to stay on, but the club have started scouting for potential replacements for the 67-year-old, who revealed on Wednesday night, that he would decide his future in “March or April.”

Some of the names on the shortlist are Atletico Madrid’s Diego Simeone, Massimiliano Allegri of Juventus and Borussia Dortmund’s Thomas Tuchel.
