3 hospitalized in PH road crash

Three persons were Wednesday hospitalized in Port Harcourt, after a taxi crashed into a Honda jeep.

The incident happened at the UTC junction along Azikiwe Road.

Eyewitnesses told PH Spectator  that the incident occurred when the taxi driver (name yet unknown), coming from the town axis of Azikiwe road  attempted to beat the traffic light which was already ahead of him crashing into the Honda jeep that was coming from the Abonnema Wharf end of the road.

The incident led to the three passengers in the taxi sustaining serious injuries while the driver and that of the Honda jeep came out unhurt.

Ph Spectator reports that at the arrival of policemen on patrol, the driver of the taxi took to his heels but was apprehended after a hot chase by the police, adding that the victims and the driver were driven-off by the policemen.

The state police command is yet to respond to inquiries on the matter at the time of this report.
