The Rivers State Police Command says it has released over 100 of the suspects arrested during a raid in parts of Emohua Local government area of the state.
Spokesman of the Command, Nnamdi Omoni while briefing newsmen in Port Harcourt said the police released 130 suspects unconditionally, out of the over 200 persons arrested.
Omoni said some of the remaining suspects had confessed to carrying out the killings in Omudioga and other criminal activities in Egbeda.
The Police spokesman also disclosed that some of the suspects in detention were helping the police with investigations just as he clarified that the police were empowered by law to carry out raids and mass arrests in troubled areas.
“We arrested over 200 of them but 130 of them have been released unconditionally. We have profiled them and found that many of them are innocent.
“Nevertheless, some of them have confessed to be aware of the beheadings in Omudioga and Egbeda while others are still helping us with information.
“We will charge them to court as soon as our investigations are concluded.”
PH Spectator recalls that the Police had embarked on a mass raid on some parts of Emohua Local government area of Rivers State, especially Omudioga where there were series of beheading of residents.
