The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Rivers State Sector Command has pledge to work in synergy with media organisation to enlighten residents of the state on safety rules.
The Rivers State Sector Commander, Imoh Etuk gave the advice when the Independent Publishers’ Association of Rivers State (RIVPA) paid him a courtesy visit in his office on Thursday.
Etuk said that the command will work with the media for effective reportage of road incidents.
He commended RIVPA for identifying with the corps for effective service delivery and further pledged to strengthen relationship with the media for effective sensitization in the state, adding that the media has a lot of role to play in educating and informing the society on the laws governing road usage.
He also used the medium to disclose that the Corps will be marking its 30th year in Nigeria on Sunday.
Earlier in her address, Chairman, Independent Publishers Association of Rivers State (RIVPA), Mrs. Gloria Boma Harry commended FRSC for it relentless efforts in saving lives by regular sensitisation of the people on road safety laws and ensuring they adhere to it.
Harry solicited for improved partnership between the corps and the media and expressed readiness of newspaper owners in the state to work closely with FRSC for the purpose of enlightening and educating the public on activities of the Corps and reducing road accidents in the state.
She stressed that the publishers would continue to fulfill its mandate of efficient delivery of accurate, reliable, comprehensive and balanced reportage of events.
