Monarch sets to mark ten years on the throne

All is now set for the Ten Years Enthronement Anniversary of His Royal Highness, Mene Suanu Baridam, Gbenemene Bangha ( Kasimene Bangha vii) in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The celebration which is billed to hold from 9th to 13th May, 2018 is expected to draw governors both past and present, captains of industries, politicians both from the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress, (APC) and traditional rulers from both within and outside the state.

Mene Baridam who revealed this to newsmen in Port Harcourt said he has been on the throne for ten years, as he was crowned on 20th January, 2007, adding that the people deemed it necessary to thank God for the peace and development that has characterized his reign as he said the kingdom under his watch has become one of the most peaceful areas in the state.

Baridam who is also the chairman of Ogoni Council of Traditional Rulers, COTRA,  maintained that his reign has brought  a lot of peace and development to the area, stressing that he has devoted most of his time as traditional ruler  into fighting for peace in his domain and beyond and further thanked the people of the kingdom for their support and urged for peaceful coexistence.

The Ogoni monarch, thanked the federal and state government for their effort in developing Ogoniland through projects and appointment of Ogoni sons and daughters into positions of authority and urged them to do more.

The monarch used the medium to advised politicians vying for various positions in the forthcoming local government elections in the state to respect zoning formula where they exist to avoid crisis during the period.

He said activities expected during the period are novelty football match, peace walk/ talk, tree planting, cultural display amongst others.
