… As youths endorse governor for second term
The senator representing Rivers East senatorial district at the National Assembly, Chief Andrew Uchendu, has asked Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State to stop alleged attacks on his person.
Uchendu, who said this , weekend, during his victory thanksgiving organised in his honour by his family members at the First African Church in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, added his victory was as a result of divine intervention.
The lawmaker called on Christian leaders to persuade Wike to stop attacking him, noting that his concern as a senator was to ensure peace and development in his senatorial district and Rivers State as a whole.
He said: “One month after I was sworn in, I was attacked and flown abroad unconscious for medical attention by Mr. Chibuike Amaechi and his wife. But today I am back to represent my people with a stronger voice.
“Tell Wike to stop fighting me. I am anointed by the Lord. I decided that my victory will be dedicated to peace and reconciliation in the state”.
He claimed that the special sanitation held across the state at the weekend was a ploy to destabilize the thanksgiving.
Uchendu said he has made frantic to reconcile both Wike and Amaechi but Wike has refused.
“ I wrote to Amaechi and Wike that I want to make peace. Amaechi invited me but till today Wike has not acknowledged my letter.”
Meanwhile, youths of Rivers State have endorsed Governor Nyesom Wike for re-election in 2019.
The youths, who gathered under the aegis of One Million Youths for New Rivers State stated this, weekend, in Port Harcourt, during a solidarity rally for Wike.
The youths who were in their hundreds, stormed the city of Port Harcourt from the 23 local government areas of the state.
They said they had adopted Wike as their sole candidate for the election.
Coordinator of the group and the member representing Ahoada East Constituency 2 in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Edison Ehie, said the endorsement became necessary following the massive infrastructural development initiated by the governor across the state despite the little resources at his dispposal.
The lawmaker said the call was to sustain the projects the governor has on ground, stressing that youths would ensure his re-election.
He said: “We the One Million Youths for New Rivers have endorsed Governor Wike as our candidate for the 2019 election. We are calling on him to re-contest and we will give him all the support.”
