NOSDRA plans Oil Spill Summit for May 24

Stakeholders in the oil and gas industry will gather to exchange ideas on issues relating to spills as the National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency, NOSDRA, has concluded plans to organise a sensitization summit on oil spill incidents, the appropriate response and management required in oil producing areas in the Niger Delta.

The summit is billed to hold on May 24, 2018,  in Port-Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.

The event  will afford NOSDRA the opportunity to enlarge awareness on its role and create enlightenment on the techniques to be applied by operators in the industry if and when these incidents occur.

The summit will also be an avenue for participants from oil companies to showcase their contribution to NOSDRA’s determination to maintain a zero tolerance for oil spills in oil producing communities and the observance by operators in the industry of environmental protection mandates and standards.

The summit is coming at a time when global interest in best practices are being demanded of all those companies which are engaged in the exploration and oil processing activities in the Niger Delta in particular.

CIMAC Associates, joint partners collaborating to organize the summit with NOSDRA, said the event would go a long way to highlight the proactive initiatives that will help to prevent oil spills and ameliorate the adverse effects on the environment.
