APC Ticket: Rivers Northerners mount pressure on Buhari over Abe

Hundreds of the All Progressives Congress, APC, supporters from the Northern extraction of the country residing in Rivers State who are loyal to Senator Magnus Ngei Abe have vowed to reject any other candidate outside Abe as the standard bearer of the APC in the 2019 general in the state.

Abe is the lawmaker representing Rivers South East in the National Assembly.

A competent source in the presidency who prefers anonymity revealed that the Northern stakeholders with a frontline Rivers politician have been in Abuja for over two weeks now to mount pressure through some influential personalities like the Emirs, top government officials and those connected to the seat of power to pressurize and present Abe’s issue to president Mohammadu Buhari.

The source said they are in Abuja to persuade Buhari to look into the protracted issues which is capable of affecting the fortunes of the party in state in the forthcoming elections.

Recall that Abe emerged as the governorship candidate of the party through the direct primaries conducted by the Prince Peter Odike lead faction of the party while Arch. Tonye Cole emerged as the party’s candidate in the indirect primaries conducted by the Ojukaye Flag-Amachree led faction of the party.
