Fire guts building in Rivers

Properties worth thousands of naira were at the weekend, destroyed by fire in the Tourist Beach axis of Port Harcourt City Local Government Area in Rivers State.

According to eyewitness, residents of the building lost all their properties to the inferno as the building was  razed down.

One of them  who identify himself simply as Sammy, said the fire started after one of the tenants in the building  went out leaving her stove on fire.

It was reported that all efforts to get the state fire fighters proved abortive and the situation forced youths of the area to result to self help in controlling the spread of the fire.

The state ministry of special duties and the police command is yet to comment on the situation.
